Study Abroad Award

Study Abroad Awards are used to recognize Hagan Scholars for outstanding academic achievement. Recipients will have the opportunity to visit and explore another country, meet its people, and experience its culture, art, and history firsthand. Study abroad is often a life changing experience, and will enhance a recipient’s resume. The award amount will pay all program costs including Tuition and Fees, Room and Board, Round Trip Airfare, and Incidental Expenses, up to $8,000.

Eligible recipients are notified the fall semester of their third year of college and provided with a Study Abroad Application.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Must have achieved a 3.50 CGPA after completion of the second year of college as a Hagan Scholar.  
2. Must have fulfilled all Scholarship Criteria and Recipient Responsibilities.
3. Must complete a Study Abroad Application.

Study Abroad Particulars
1. Must be arranged by recipient’s college or university or an alternate provider approved by HSF.
2. Must relate to recipient’s major or minor and enable recipient to earn at least two credit hours.
3. Study abroad credits cannot be used to meet the 30 GPA credit hours to be earned each academic year.
4. Must occur during the winter intercession, during spring break, or, the following summer.
5. Must return home by July 15, 2022.
6. Must write a report about the study abroad experience.

Countries Visited by Hagan Scholars: Australia, Austria, Belize, Brazil, Bolivia, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greek Islands, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Roatan, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Scandinavia, Sweden, Tanzania, Thailand.
